Research: Genre: Typical music video- Shakira Whenever wherever

Shakira displays herself in the same ways as Britney. Her bikini and torn jeans show a sexy edge to her brand image. The whole video is shot in a studio. The vast location on the desert and her dances by the sea are studio-based which is very typical as it is much cheaper for producers to shoot in a studio rather that on location, where they don't have to pay people so much money and also to conserve time.
There is a narrative within the video however it isn't very clear especially at the beginning as she just shoots out of the sea (literally) before we realise the fact that she's ship-wrecked.
The concept of a girl dancing to music wearing a skimpy outfit is the most obvious typical convention.
For me, shooting completely in a studio tends to make the video look too false and obvious. Watching someone dance behind different backgrounds isn't too thrilling to watch and i feel that if you're actually watching someone on a location scene- the difference in quality would be seen.
